You may have seen the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified a cluster of fungal meningitis cases stemming from epidural steroid injections used to treat back pain.  The outbreak thus far has been traced to 6 states – Tennessee, Indiana, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Florida.   The CDC has at this point linked the outbreak to a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy that distributes the steroid injection medicine. 

St. Joseph's Surgery Center does not use this steroid injection medicine nor does it use any products from this company.  So to be clear, neither that medicine nor any medicine from that company has been used on past patients of this surgery center nor will they be in the future.
